Thirst is good. Because it makes you desire water, which is good for your body. Without ability to experience thirst, your body may become dehydrated, and this will tamper with your health. The Lord Jesus Christ invited His disciples and the crowds to come to Him and drink: "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.” This is the second most significant time Jesus made an invitation for people to thirst. He had earlier on invited people to thirst and hunger for righteousness, and they would be filled [Matt. 5:8].
God doesn’t fill the satisfied, but the thirsty. We need to come so that we may drink! We need to daily cultivate a thirst for the Lord. We should join the psalmist and declare, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” (Psalm 42:1-2)
We unblock the way for the Holy Spirit when we whet an appetite for God. Whet your appetite for the Holy Spirit!
