Focusing on God
Psalm 5 shows David coming to the LORD in the morning and receiving the strength and joy he needs to make it through the day against many adversaries.
[2] Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, I pray to no one but you.
Often, we come to prayer so full of our requests and feelings that we never consciously focus on God and sense His presence. David focused his prayer time on God.
[4] O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness; you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked.
As David drew closer to God, he became more aware of God’s holiness and man’s sinfulness.
Today, let us focus on God in our prayers, let us come before God with our own shortcomings, and see ourselves as God sees us—sinners in need of a Savior. Let us pray that we will continue drawing closer to God and be aware of His holiness.
