We are Led to Specific Places in Life and Mission by The Holy Spirit.

John the Baptist, who was sent by God to prepare the Way of Christ was arrested for rebuking King Herod. Herod had married Herodias, his own brother’s wife. “When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he returned to Galilee. 13 Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— 14 to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah: 15 "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, along the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— 16 the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned" (Matt 4:12-16). While natural events may have caused Jesus to relocate, the Holy Spirit was involved. Because it was prophesied, it had to be fulfilled! Prophecy is a function of the Holy Spirit! [Joel 2:28-29, 1 Cor. 12:1-10]. Even in ordinary activities like where to be, God’s Spirit was leading! Consider Paul the apostle. He was deterred from entering some places by the Spirit. “Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. 7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.” Acts 16:6-7

God knows the path of life He has cut for each one of us. From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live (Acts 17:26). The only way to walk well in life is to allow ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit.

Prayer

We soak in the Holy Spirit so that we can receive guidance in our lives. The very purpose for which God created each one of us, and the places of executing such a mission are knowable as we listen to the Holy Spirit.

  • Do you struggle with your life’s mission? Do you wonder whether you're supposed to be where you are? Allow the ‘Spirit of Jesus’ to guide you. He cares and clarifies. Make this your prayer.
  • Pray that we shall experience divine guidance in ministry as a church this 2023. Which places does God want us to participate in His mission? Let us pray about it!.
